		<description><![CDATA[It is important to understand the difference between maternity leave, parental leave, maternity and parental allowances (MATA, PATA), Employment Insurance (EI) benefits and Quebec Parental Insurance Plan (QPIP) benefits. Maternity and parental leave are two distinct entitlements, each being one period of leave without pay and allowances, during which members could be eligible to receive MATA/PATA and EI benefits for CF personnel residing in Canada outside of Quebec or QPIP benefits for CF personnel residing in Quebec. The period of maternity leave plus the period of parental leave cannot exceed 52 weeks no matter where CF members are residing in Canada.]]></description>
